Gold star Opening the Scriptures, Part 2, 2012

Open BookFriday and Saturday, 16–17th March, 2012, at Kempsey Uniting Church. Led by John Squires and Elizabeth Raine. For worship leaders, people wishing to train as lay preachers, and as a refresher for existing lay preachers. A ‘next step’ for those wanting to explore their faith a bit more. Sessions will be informative and interactive, educational and enjoyable. What is in the Bible, and why? Exploring the sources and forms of biblical literature; understanding the contribution of the different biblical authors; reflecting on the Bible as nourishment for my faith journey.
 

 

Gold star Reading the New Testament

Monday to Friday, 3rd–7th September, 2012. This course is part of the requirements for accreditation as a Lay Preacher within the Uniting Church. Explore the litertaure, history, Scrollsociety and beliefs of the first followers of Jesus and the foundations that were laid for the church. Venue in the south of the Presbytery.

 
Bible Reader

Gold star Lectionary Studies, 2012

Monday mornings (9:30am to 12:30pm), at the Uniting Church, Sherwood Road, Port Macquarie. Mondays, 12th March, 23rd April, 18th June, 13th August, 24th September and 12th November, 2012. For lay preachers, lay worship leaders, occasional preachers and other interested people. An interactive study and discussion of some of the four biblical passages (OT, Psalm, Epistle, Gospel) set for reading in worship each Sunday in the lectionary. Bring your own questions and be prepared to discuss!

In addition, sessions for Northern Zoners on 21st March and 6th June, following Northern Zone meetings on those days.

ScrollThis course is part of the requirements for accreditation as a Lay Preacher within the Uniting Church. Explore the litertaure, history, society and beliefs of the people of ancient Israel and the role that these scriptures play in the Christian faith. Venue in the north of the Presbytery.
