The Uniting Church’s system of government is not hierarchical. The system is known as “interconciliary” and consists of a series of inter-related councils, each having its own areas of responsibility and authority but none of them able to function properly without other councils also exercising their own responsibility and authority.
The Presbytery is one of those councils of the Uniting Church.
In its work, it relates to the State-wide council (the Synod),
the national council (the Assembly) and the local councils (the congregations), together fulfilling the functions and calling of the Uniting Church.
This page is a summary of the other pages of this site that relate directly to the Presbytery. They are listed in the menu across the top of this page.
The Members of Presbytery
Membership of the particular council that is the Presbytery (and, for that matter, of all the other councils of the Church) is defined by the Uniting Church Regulations.
You can learn more about the membership of the Mid North Coast Presbytery by going to the Members page – click on the “Presbytery Members” item in the menu at the top of this page.
The Officers of Presbytery
To carry out its various tasks, the Presbytery elects or appoints a range of officers. They are listed on the Officers page and, again, use the “Presbytery Officers” item in the menu at the top of this page.
The Presbytery Calendar
To help you keep track of the growing number of events associated with the life of the Presbytery (and the wider church), the Presbytery Calendar allows you to see each month at a time and provides links to further information about each event, where that information is readily available. Go to the Calendar by selecting “Presbytery Calendar” in the menu at the top of this page.
The Meetings Page
The Meetings page is designed to list forthcoming meeting dates, either for the Presbytery itself or for its various committees. Be sure to check this one out as it sometimes has detailed information about coming events. Click on the
“Meetings of Presbytery” item in the menu at the top of this page.
The Educational Resources Page
The Educational Resources page is one of our newer pages. It is designed to give you details of the various educational opportunities the Presbytery offers to people living within its bounds. Click on the
“Educational Opportunities” item in the menu at the top of this page.
